About Us

I’m James, a father to two children and one of the coaches and new franchise owner here at Young Ballerz Basketball. I started playing basketball at around 10 years old, the age my son is now, and very quickly fell in love with it. Every waking hour for the next 10 years were spent with a basketball in my hand, either at school, in the park or playing organised basketball. I would go on to play for Southend and captain Essex Basketball along the way. I continued to play through university and even now, some 30+ years later, I’m still playing the game I love. My passion is to inspire young people to try basketball and have fun with it. Basketball is one of the most dynamic youth sports available, providing not only physical benefits but mental and social benefits too.

About 4 years ago, my son said that he’d like to play basketball, which was obviously music to my ears. However, at this time there were few to no options for introductory basketball for children his age. This is where Young Ballerz Basketball stood out. Committed to making Basketball more accessible, it offered my son a fun, structured and inclusive space to develop fundamental skills.

Seeing my son motivated and happy to attend every session was a joy for my family. The fun and sense of being part of a team along with the skills foundation he learnt at Young Ballerz Basketball have proved priceless for him as he continues his basketball journey.

The opportunity came about that I could become a franchisee in Young Ballerz Basketball and I jumped at the chance. Knowing the positive impact it can have for children, being a franchisee puts me in a position to help them all develop and fall in love with the game.
